Introducing Both Homes Press

Both Homes Press is an independent publisher, founded in 2026, for one subject: the conversations that separated and divorced parents have to have — with each other, about their children, usually by text, often at the worst possible moment.

Our line describes the work: plain-language tools for the hardest conversations of family life.

Why "Both Homes"

Children in separated families live in two homes. The messages that travel between those homes — about pickups and holidays, money and school, fevers and permission slips — decide a great deal of the weather those children grow up in. We publish for the person standing in the kitchen reading a message three times, trying to work out what on earth to type back.

What we publish

Practical nonfiction written to be used, not admired: word-for-word scripts for difficult messages, checklists that slow a hot moment down, and simple systems for keeping communication short, neutral, and documented. Everything we publish is general information. Our books help a reader write a better message; they do not replace a family attorney, a therapist, or a court.

What we will not publish

The list is short and it is not negotiable. No legal or therapeutic advice dressed as a book. No memoir or revenge narratives. Nothing that puts a child in the middle. And no invented credentials, reviews, or endorsements — ever, in any book, on any page we run.

How we work

Both Homes Press is a small house with published standards, and we hold ourselves to them in public. Our Editorial Standards set out how our books are sourced and verified, how we use AI tools in drafting and editing (openly, with a person reviewing every page), and how we correct errors — on the page, in the open, in a corrections log that anyone can read. If we would not print it in the book, we do not put it on the website.

Our first author and series

Our first author is Dana Whitaker, whose Clean Record Series opens with Co-Parenting or Parallel Parenting with a Toxic Ex — 55 scripts for high-conflict texts and emails, built on a simple discipline of calmer messages, clearer boundaries, and kids kept out of the middle. A second book, The Parallel Parenting Playbook, is in production.

The arrangement between our two sites is deliberate. This site holds the records: the catalog, the standards, the house news. The reading itself — the blog, the free checklist, the books — lives on Dana's own site, danawhitakerbooks.com.

Reaching the press

Media, rights, booksellers, and librarians: the Press page carries the house boilerplate and media kit, and the contact form routes by reason — media and rights to press@bothhomespress.com, everything else through the form. We reply within three business days.

This post is the first entry in From the Press. We will post here when there is something to say — a release, series news, or an announcement — and not before.
