Editorial Standards
How Both Homes Press books and pages are researched, written, checked, and corrected. This is the house policy; the author site operates under it and links here.
Sourcing
Every scenario in our books begins with a message a parent actually had to answer. We do not invent problems to fill a chapter, and we do not dramatize. Where a script touches a legal or safety question, the text says so and refers the reader to the right professional.
Our books are general information, not legal or therapeutic advice. That sentence appears on every title, every property, and here.
Verification of hotlines and resources
Hotline numbers, organizations, and official resources are checked against the organization’s own website or an official government listing before publication, and re-checked quarterly and after any reader report. Each place they appear carries a “last verified” date.
AI-assistance policy
Both Homes Press uses AI tools to assist with drafting, outlining, and editing. The scenarios, scripts, and judgments are set by the author and editor; no text is published as it came out of a tool. A person reviews every page before publication and again whenever it changes.
This disclosure applies to the press and to danawhitakerbooks.com, which states it in its own Editorial Policy.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct it on the page or in the next printing and log the correction publicly: the date, what changed, and why. We do not quietly edit. To report an error, use the contact form and choose “A correction.”
What we never do
No invented credentials. No invented experience, anecdotes, or case studies presented as real. No fabricated or solicited reviews, endorsements, or “as seen in” claims. No promises about outcomes — our books change the record, not the other person.
